Peter Douglas

Peter Douglas’s practice focuses on complex litigation at both the trial and appellate levels in both state and federal courts. His practice encompasses a broad range of subject matters, including complex business litigation and white-collar criminal defense.

Prior to joining MoloLamken, Mr. Douglas served as a law clerk to the Honorable David F. Hamilton of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and to the Honorable Joan Humphrey Lefkow of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Representative Matters

  • Represents president of prominent healthcare technology company on appeal from convictions arising from alleged billion-dollar fraud (United States v. Agarwal, No. 24-2236 (7th Cir. pending))
  • Represents investment manager that obtained over $700 million in judgments against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its state-owned oil company over defaulted debt in S.D.N.Y. and District of Delaware
  • Represented as merits-stage amicus curiae the principal drafter of the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act's arbitration exception in a Supreme Court case over personal jurisdiction in arbitral enforcement (CC/Devas (Mauritius) Ltd. v. Antrix Corp. Ltd., 145 S. Ct. 1572 (2025))
  • Obtained favorable clarification of law on appeal to en banc First Circuit for pro se plaintiff alleging unconstitutional deprivation of due process arising from prolonged stay in solitary confinement (Perry v. Spencer, 94 F.4th 136 (1st Cir. 2024))
  • Obtained settlement for pro se plaintiff alleging unconstitutional conditions of confinement in settlement negotiations through N.D.I.L.’s Settlement Assistance Program
