Second Circuit Rules in Favor of ML Client Moldovagaz

Issuing a major decision on the standards that govern alter ego claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled that MoloLamken client Moldovagaz is not an alter ego of the Republic of Moldova and accordingly reversed a $33 million judgment against the company. ML’s Robert KryLauren Weinstein, and Leonid Grinberg successfully argued that the Republic’s regulation of gas prices, minority ownership stake, and other oversight did not render the company an alter ego of the state. Read the decision here.
